Default MOnster Pink

Default Monsters is a sculptural series that transforms rough, deskilled, childlike line drawings into three dimensional collectible figures through 3D modeling and 3D printing. Beginning with simple two dimensional sketches, each character is translated into a digital form, using contemporary modeling tools to exaggerate gesture, expression, and pose.

This process highlights the shift that occurs when informal drawing is filtered through precise technological systems. What begins as an intuitive, almost careless mark becomes a polished object, shaped by software, fabrication constraints, and production logic. The monsters retain the energy and awkwardness of their original drawings, while the technology imposes clarity, repetition, and finish.

By adding bases and standardizing scale, the figures reference commercial collectibles and product design. ositioned between drawing, digital model, and fabricated object, the Default Monsters Series examines how individuality survives or is altered when expressive forms are translated into reproducible systems, and how technology reframes naive imagery as commodity.
