Default Monster BLUE
Default Monsters is a sculptural series that translates rough, deskilled, childlike line drawings into three dimensional collectible figures through digital modeling and 3D printing. Beginning with simple two dimensional sketches, each character is reconstructed as a digital form, where gesture, proportion, and expression are exaggerated through contemporary modeling tools.
The process foregrounds the transformation that occurs when informal drawing passes through precise technological systems. What begins as an intuitive mark becomes a fabricated object shaped by software constraints, material limitations, and production logic. This translation reflects a form of computational craft, where expressive gestures are refined through digital workflows and fabrication processes. While the figures retain the energy and awkwardness of their original drawings, the pipeline imposes refinement, consistency, and repeatability.
By standardizing scale and incorporating bases, the sculptures reference commercial collectibles and product design. Positioned between drawing, digital model, and fabricated object, the series examines how expressive individuality is altered through reproducible systems and how technology reframes naive imagery as commodity.
